Right, after all those people sketches, here is a building. This is the Memorial Union at UC Davis, and it has just recently reopened after a big upgrade. The still-closed Freeborn Hall is on the right, and the modernized shiny bookstore is there on the left.
I’m curious. Do you scan your finished work? or do you just photograph it? through mobile? DSLR?
I scan it on a flatbed scanner.
Thank you. I happen to scan my works too, but it doesn’t look good. Like for example, the skyblue watercolor that I have doesn’t look skyblue-ish after I scan. It looks like it turns into white or something.
Any tips/settings when you scan your artwork? It will be of great help to me on my urban sketching scans.
Sky blue is always tricky when scanning. I don’t have any tips I’m afraid, I’ve just been consciously making my skies a little darker, but the edges often get lost in the scan; I don’t know how those who do really faint blue washes get it looking so good after scanning.
When are you going to offer your next workshop?
Probably not for a while! I really enjoyed the last one though, it was really fun.
