We relaxed beneath a palm tree on the beach at Santa Monica, with an ice cream an a mango smoothie. I love it down there, by the Ocean. I’m a big fan of the Ocean Park area. I could live there.

I was born in Santa Monica and my mom still lives there, about a mile east of the Ocean Park area. She was born in Ocean Park half a block from the beach in my grandparents’ wonderful old house. I used to love to visit and spend all day at the beach. But the city declared eminent domain and took their house and built tall condos there. My granny was the last hold out, hers the last house standing as they bulldozed all the wonderful old beach houses several blocks square. The remaining houses are worth gazillions.
