oh yes, by the way it's watercolour. I never got the hang of the water soluble pen wash, but I will try it again.

thank you. i love microns; after much drawing, they're my favourite.
Galfridian means 'to do with Geoffrey of Monmouth' so it's pretty narrowly used, though I am campaigning to have it used when talking of Geoffrey out of Rainbow. This way, Zippy and Bungle could eventually be called Galfridian characters, or at least associates. I wonder if there's a term for 'to do with Rod Jane and Freddy'? Well now I'm just being silly.

You draw this well AND you understand terms such as "Galfridian" ... You are here to make the rest of us feel inadequate.

Is that a watercolour wash, or is the pen watersoluble? I really like the effect of it combined with your line work.

I love this! I'm too tired to go into the reasons why, but it strikes home with me. I think because I used to do so many of the "out of the frame" illustrations myself. I'm just drawn to them, no pun intended. I also love the composition and the pens leading us in...and I love Microns. It's just darn good!

cheers! i don't like drawing pens so got this out of the way.

Geoffrey of Monmouth, while populist and sensational and wild at the time, is a really good read, immensely influential, and completely made up as he went along to boot. But that's where we get a lot of our British legends (Brutus the Trojan, etc). Sows the seed for other similar works, if you will. I've never read Zippy of Monmouth but I hear it's even better.

I agree, 'the' is far too definitive, no one can write 'the' history of anything, they can only ever write 'a' history and would do well to remember it, eh? ;)

Good illustration - is the monmouth book good?
